Sebastian Almeida: The Artist Behind La Creación

Meet Sebastian Almeida, a creative mind born to be an artist. He chose his path from the moment he was able to hold a pencil. From the moment he could hold a pencil, he knew art would be part of his life.What began as childhood sketches quickly evolved into a fascination with film. As a kid, he spent his time watching movies and YouTube videos, drawing inspiration to make funny home videos with his brothers and friends. Little did he know, he was shaping what would later become his career path. His true interest in filmmaking came later, when he discovered the power of evoking emotion through imagery and storytelling. He was first drawn to horror and the challenge of making an audience feel fear, but as he explored the medium more deeply, his love for film expanded beyond any one genre.

Creating something from nothing became his passion. For him, it’s not just about the finished product, but about the entire creative process; the decision-making, the intention, and everything that comes before the final result. While the work itself fulfills his artistic drive, sharing it with others and hearing how it makes them feel is one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.

His work can be described as a stream of consciousness. It doesn’t necessarily follow a specific style, but is often rooted in surrealism. “Most of the time what I seek to transmit with my work is the state of consciousness I'm at while working on it or when I had the idea. If I'm going mad, it will show”.

His latest project, La Creación, was born out of a simple urge: to make a movie. He began writing without a clear direction until the concept slowly started taking shape. Bit by bit, the story revealed itself. “The story is a metaphor, a surrealist chronicle of its own creation, the duel inside an artist with an urge to create, struggling to complete a piece that he can finally be proud of.”
